Strawberry Shortcake - Mom's

Sift:
2 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Cut in:
1/2 cup butter
Combine:
1 egg beaten
2/3 cup cream
Add to dry ingredients.
Stir gently, and spread into a 8" x 8" x 2" pan.
Bake at 450° for about 15 minutes.
While still warm, split horizontally and lightly butter.
Saturate with fresh crushed strawberries, topped with whipped cream. YES!
